When working with color values I teach my students to start with 3 values of a color. Light, medium and dark. This really helps them understand what values are and how to use them.

My classes are no longer than 45 minutes so I stick with really easy drawings. This allows my student to focus on learning about color values and less about getting their drawing perfect.

The image above is from one of my private classes. During class were created the sphere character. For homework my student was asked to finish Starro, a character from Suicide Squad 2.
