Lourve Abu Dhabi

The opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi looks breath taking. I read an article on the ARTnews Magazine titled “First Look Inside the Louvre Abu Dhabi” about the unique curation. A particular theme stood out to me that I wanted to share with you.

The art objects are presented together from similar themes and “eras but from different geographies to underline the commonalities of human experience.”

For example, the iconic imagery of mother and child figures are displayed from ancient Egypt, medieval France and Congo, together allowing the viewers to find commonalities within the art.

I’ve always had a fascination with the mother and child figures and it is very interesting to see the art objects presented this way. Ancient Egypt’s Isis and Horus, France’s medieval Virgin Mary and Child sculpture and a 19th century maternity figure from the Yombe culture in Congo are all housed together for the viewer to digest.

This is so amazing to me. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is definitely on my list of museums to visit.
