Aaron Douglas
Today in class we reviewed artist Aaron Douglas. He is known as the “Father of African American Art” for his contributions to African American Art History.

We covered his artistic style today by focusing how he used color values in his paintings. The images below are handouts for class.
My students are learning about mixing colors and creating color values so this art exercise was perfect.

We used watercolors to interpret his art style. The students really enjoyed using the watercolors and mixing colors.

In this class we will continue to study Aaron Douglas and more Harlem Renaissance artists. Subscribe for more!
