What’s the point of writing another blog post?

Lately I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the motivation to write my blog post consistently. We all have those moments of feeling like, “I don’t feel like it” or one phrase that I say in my head when I know it’s time to write again is “what’s the point?”

What’s the point of writing another blog post when you just don’t feel like it? You’ve been at it for years (or months), what’s the point?

I believe this is very important question to ask yourself from time to time. However you choose to ask yourself, it’s an important question to ask.

It doesn’t mean it’s the end or your giving up your blog. In fact I believe it’s the opposite of that. When you’ve asked yourself the question of “What’s the point?”

You might be actually considering these 3 points:

1. What’s the purpose of my blog? Remember…long ago (or it could be last week) you started your blog, you were all excited and ready for the world. After sometime you possibly got sidetracked, distracted or maybe even a-little discouraged from time to time.

No worries, it happens to us all. The fact that your asking yourself “what’s the point?” Means that you are still connected to all the topics you’ve written about, it means your blog still serves a purpose to you and in fact….there is a point to your blog and what you had in mind for it. Which brings me to…

2. You might be at a point in your writing career that you are seeking a change or upgrade to your blog. Seek it out. Make that change. Research and find what works best for you. If your asking yourself “what’s the point of continuing my blog” or “what’s the point no one is reading my blog post anyways” then maybe it’s time to seek out professional help.

WordPress has many tools for assistance including making changes to your site, upgrading your site or getting professional help from them or third party vendors. I’ve used all three to change, upgrade and get help creating media for my site. BTW I’m still learning about everything WordPress has to offer too, it’s constantly changing for the better.

3. Like the above, your asking yourself this question because you still care about your blog. Aside from changing the aesthetics you might even consider reevaluating your blog to find out what about it could use improvement. Maybe you want more reader engagement? Maybe you’ve lost interest in your niche topic? You don’t have a niche topic and want to find out which of your topics to pursue?

These are all valid points to consider and like I mentioned before, I’m still learning myself, being only a few years in. What I have learned is writing posts consistently, engaging readers, updating my site regularly, sharing my experiences and staying motivated has been helpful to me.

Sounds easy right? It’s not, there are times when I lack on all the above. When that happens I just get back up and pick up where I left off at. Writing can be this way, it’s your journey enjoy the ride.

If you’ve had this type of moment when it comes to your blog please let me know in the comment section. Your words will provide some encouragement for other writers and me too! Thanks!
