6 Month Portrait Studies

Back in April I shared with you a few of my challenges with creating artworks of people, in this article. A good friend of mine asked me to make a portrait of him. I used a computer program called, Autodesk Sketchbook. (It’s free so go try it out if your interested …or out of painting supplies. I’m not an affiliate or anything just spreading some helpful information.)

Anyways, it was my first time using a digital art program and it was frustrating at first. (I can admit this now, after the fact. Lol)

He sent me a photo via Fb messenger, I screenshot and begin to work.

At the time I thought this was great but reaction from peers let me know….get back to work lady! I’m embarrassed to share but I will.

This was around February he sent the photo and by April I sent him something back. Which is what spurred my blog entry.

So, I went back to work. Researched, watched YouTube videos and I tried again. Around mid August, I had something a little better. Something I’m not embarrassed to share.

After I finished this exercise I sent it to him. But then I thought. Wait, what will happen if I do this again in a few months? It looks good to me now but in a few months it may not.

Long story short, there’s improvement and this is what matters to me. Toddles! (Just feed my kids noodles so anything –oodles are on my mind.)

Have a cool day! And whatever your working on, keep going.

  1. Well I have to say kymberly worked really hard at this many times she send me a part of it and I said it need more work but she didn’t stop. Know the end product has improved alot and if she is to try at it one more time it would be a splitting imagine of the original you would not know the difference.
You did a good job kymberly .
